Where It Began

Before there was a collection, there was Tuxie and the life we share.

I began by thinking about what I wanted to make for him. A hoodie came first. It’s a classic and one of my favorite pieces to wear, but I wanted his to feel like more than a smaller version of mine.

I watched how clothes sat on his petite frame. I thought about where the hem should fall and how he would move in it. Then I followed my own eye: a shirttail for the look of a second layer, a lining inside the hood, exaggerated trims that gave a familiar shape its own character. I wanted something easy for Tuxie to wear that I would love seeing him in.

That first hoodie became the signature of TUXIE LUXIE. As I built the collection around it, the question stayed the same. Would this feel right for Tuxie and for the days we spend together? The colors, shapes, and details came from that question as much as they came from my love of fashion.

Tuxie is still the one I look to. Sometimes he’s beside me in a photograph. Sometimes he’s looking up at me while I’m thinking about the next piece. Either way, he has a way of bringing me back to where it all began.
